Five new medicines leaflets available on Medicines for Children

Thanks to our brilliant medical colleagues, the Medicines for Children team are very pleased to announce the publication of a series of new information leaflets.

March 8, 2024

We are delighted to publish five new medicines information leaflets on the Medicines for Children website:

  • Bonjela junior gel for mouth lesions: link
  • Buprenorphine patches for pain: link
  • Carbamazepine (rectal) for preventing seizures: link
  • Omalizumab (Xolair) for asthma: link
  • Tolterodine for bladder problems: link

Many people have been involved in the preparation of these leaflets. The Medicines for Children Board would like to thank: Jessica MacWilliam, Daniel Evans and Neil Caldwell for help with writing, and Andrew Lilley, Sarah McGrath, and the paediatric pharmacy team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust for reviewing these leaflets.

We are always looking for healthcare professionals to help write and review our medicines information – their hands-on clinical experience is critical to providing information that is useful for and valued by parents and carers. If you would like to be involved, please contact the Medicines for Children team by email on We are currently setting up a recognition scheme to provide professional development (CPD) accreditation for medical professionals who contribute to leaflet development and review.

Medicines for Children plans to publish 20 new leaflets during 2024. If a leaflet on a particular medicine would be useful in your clinical practice, please let us know!
