QR-code poster published for medicines to treat heart conditions

The Medicines for Children team have developed a new QR code poster for medicines used to treat heart conditions. This poster is made in collaboration with the East Midlands Congenital Heart Network, supported by funding from the Edith Florence Spencer Memorial Trust.

April 28, 2023

Following a request from the East Midlands Congenital Heart Network, we have developed a new QR code poster for medicines used to treat heart conditions. This work is supported by funding from the Edith Florence Spencer Memorial Trust (read more here).

QR codes allow quick access to online information using a smart phone camera or a scanning app – free from app stores. When the QR code is scanned, the linked information can be downloaded. This means the information is readily to hand and does not need to be printed out.

These posters have been developed for use in healthcare settings and clinics, with other posters displaying QR codes for medicines used to treat epilepsy and for medicines used in different healthcare settings, such as dentistry, community medicine, for babies, in the emergency department, and for general advice. You can view and download these posters from the healthcare professionals area of the Medicines for Children website or via this link.

How to use these posters

  • Healthcare professionals can display these posters where parents and carers will see them, or use them during consultations to share information. Parents and carers can scan the QR code for the medicine that their child has been prescribed.
  • Parents and carers may use the QR codes to share information with school and other people who care for their child.
  • The “General advice about children’s medicines” QR code poster can be put up in youth centres, nurseries, schools and health centres.

What posters would you like to see?

We can create QR posters covering medicines for other conditions and situations, and we can add any organisation’s logo to new or existing posters. If you are working with children and would like to use QR codes to improve access to our medicines information, please contact the team at medicines.leaflets@rcpch.ac.uk
