Medicines QR code posters update
Since launching our first QR code posters at the end of 2022, they have grown in popularity and have led to many requests for more to be developed. These posters enable quick access to our medicines information and are available to download and print out for parents and carers to use in clinic or hospital settings.
The Medicines for Children team would like to thank two key people who conceived these posters and were instrumental in their development. Firstly, Neil Caldwell (FFRPS), Consultant Pharmacist in Children’s Services at Wirral University Teaching Hospital and Honorary Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, who provided guidance and clinical oversight on what was needed from the posters, as well as design ideas and feedback throughout the development. Thanks also to Ishini Mendis, Medicines for Children’s project assistant, who designed the original posters and got the ball rolling with this work. Thanks to their input and enthusiasm we now have a series of published posters, with more in the pipeline.
Seven posters are grouped according to medical condition or clinical setting:
- Medicines for epilepsy
- Medicines for babies
- Medicines for heart conditions
- Medicines used by dentists
- Medicines used in community paediatrics
- Medicines used in the emergency department
- General advice about children’s medicines
There are also two general information posters to explain the role of the Medicines for Children website; one poster provides information to health care professionals and one to parents and carers. Each poster comes in either A4 size or a smaller A5 version, and provides easy access to the most searched areas of the Medicines for Children website.

Since launching our first series of posters, we have been contacted by a number of clinical colleagues requesting additional topic areas. Thank you to these individuals for taking the time to contact us and suggest which medicines should be included under which condition. We are currently developing the following posters:
- Medicines for allergies
- Medicines for asthma
- Medicines for constipation
- Medicines for cystic fibrosis
- Medicines for eczema
- Medicines for enuresis and urinary tract infection
- Medicines used in community nursing
