Join the Medicines for Children programme board!

The Medicines for Children team is looking for two RCPCH members to join the programme board: a senior representative and a trainee representative.

February 25, 2022

The two positions offer a great opportunity to be involved in the development of evidence-based accessible patient information and to influence the future direction of the work. The Medicines for Children website is visited by millions of people across the world each year and has emerged as a key source of high-quality information.

The programme board, which guides the activities and direction of Medicines for Children, has equal representation from our partner organisations: the RCPCH (Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health), the NPPG (Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacist Group) and the children’s charity WellChild.

Both RCPCH Board members will take active roles in Medicines for Children activities, particularly in the production and review of parent-focused information for the website and supporting decision-making activities. The senior representative will have voting rights whereas the trainee will be involved in similar activities but will not have voting rights. The Board meets three times a year (February, June, October), once in person (at the RCPCH offices in London) and twice remotely.

Dr Helen Sammons stepped down from her role as senior RCPCH representative at the end of 2021, having been an active and valued member of the Board since 2009. During her 12-year tenure, Helen was instrumental in developing and reviewing much of the content on the website; she provided invaluable insight from her role as a consultant paediatrician working closely with parents and as a member of the RCPCH Medicines Committee. We would like to thank Helen for all her hard work on Medicines for Children, and wish her well in her future endeavours.

Further information on the two roles and how to apply (deadline 7th March 2022) can be found here:
